Contrary to misleading reports from Greaton Keswick Pty Ltd that turtles haven’t nested on Basil Bay in the past 10 years, now we have first-hand, documented proof that Flat Back turtles do indeed ignore the keep out signs & nest here.
Steve & David from Mackay and District Turtle Watch came out with Stephen in Finnatic this morning to exhume the recently hatched turtle nest on #basilbay at #keswickisland. 50 out of 51 Flat Back turtle eggs hatched. Yay! We all feel like proud grandparents!
